One of the most famous animals in Turkey is the Van cat, which is related to the Persian cat. The Van cat is easily recognizable by its two different coloured eyes.
Also worth mentioning is the famous Kangal dog that originates from the city of Sivas in central Turkey. The Kangal dog is a sheep dog that can grow to 1 metre tall with a weight of more than 65 kilos.
Both the Van cat and the Kangal dog are protected species and their exportation is forbidden.
