He then came to Turkey to study music and take exams in classical music at the Karamurel Conservatory in Istanbul.
At the same time he started to perform frequently at Istanbul’s music scene. This was the kick off to his present career.
Tarkan’s first album in 1992 was Yine Sensiz (Without you again). It sold 700,000 copies.
His second album came two years later and was called Acayipsin (You are sensational). The album sold more than 2 million copies which was and still is unheard of for a Turkish artist.
After a three year break, in 1997 he returned with the album Olurum Sana (I will die for you). Tarkan also included a successful international tour where he sold out several of Europe’s largest concert venues. The album went all the way to number one in both the Belgian and German charts.
The greatest hits album ‘Tarkan’ was released in 1999 and this was followed in 2001 by Karma which contained new material. Both of these albums were successful
His latest album is Dudu released in 2003. As always the album was given a warm welcome and has increased Tarkan’s popularity as well as manifested his position on both the national and international music scene.
