Construction Standards and Quality

The quality of Turkish properties is perhaps one of the most discussed topics. How are they built, and what materials are used?

Bathrooms

Bathrooms can usually be compared to modern Western European bathrooms. Turkey offers a wide selection of stylish tiles, and the quality of fixtures, bathroom elements, shower cabins, etc., is fully on par with European standards.

Modern conveniences such as spa baths and underfloor heating are commonly available. In fact, Turkish bathrooms are often slightly larger than comparable European ones.

Kitchen

Upper and lower cabinets are typically made from MDF with either a painted/lacquered finish or the more affordable laminated surface. Soft-close systems are not very common but can be added easily and at a low cost.

Countertops are usually made of marble or granite, offering a beautiful and high-quality appearance.

Molding

Most properties feature decorative ceiling moldings with integrated lighting and spotlights. This is a stylish detail that gives the property an exclusive and modern feel.

Floors

Floors are typically laid with light-colored ceramic tiles, but laminate, travertine, or marble are also used.

Doors and Windows

The main entrance door is typically made of steel, while interior doors are made of MDF or pressed wood with decorative finishes. Balcony doors and windows are made of PVC plastic with multi-functional opening systems and double-glazed windows.

Walls

Walls are usually constructed with simple stonework, finished with layers of plaster and silicone-based paint. There is generally no dedicated insulation.

Turkish Standards Institute (TSE)

All consumer market materials in Turkey – not just building materials – must comply with the guidelines set by the TSE (Turkish Standards Institute), which functions similarly to standards organizations in European countries.

In addition, all properties are earthquake-proof, and every construction project is continuously inspected during the building phase by a licensed engineering consultancy firm appointed by the state.
