Explore the ancient ruins of Lamos ,near Alanya in Gazipasa
Nestled along the Mediterranean coast, the ancient city of Lamos offers a glimpse into Türkiye’s rich history. Located 2 km away from the village of Adanda, and about 60 km east of Alanya, these ruins date back to the Roman and Byzantine periods. The site is easily accessible by car, following the scenic coastal road toward Gazipaşa.
The journey takes around 1.5 hours from Alanya’s city center, making it a perfect day trip for history enthusiasts. While exploring Lamos, you’ll find remnants of city walls, a Roman bath, and a Byzantine church. The area is also known for its well-preserved aqueduct, which once supplied water to the city.
A great activity here is photographing the ancient structures against the backdrop of the turquoise sea. The ruins are spread over a hillside, offering panoramic views of the Taurus mountains—ideal for capturing memorable shots.
The best time to visit Lamos is during spring (April-May) or autumn (September-October), when temperatures are mild. Summer visits are possible but can be hot, so bring sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water. Wear comfortable shoes, as the terrain is uneven.
